I visited three years ago. I took a 12 day tour around the country with a driver and guide. It was October, past the tourist season, so only saw a handful of other tourists.
The trip was amazing. Although cold, we went hiking, saw some historic sites, saw a Google streetview truck and photographer in a couple of the sites, saw wild horses... I’d love to go back.
Mongolia is an interesting proud country....it’s come far.
