I was chatting with my pastor after services a few hours ago and we noted with some bewilderment how the Methodists are splitting up over ... what else, the church’s attitude toward gays.

We both shook our heads in bewilderment over the clear fact that a tiny sliver of the population accounts for such a huge share of public discourse — and often pretty acrimonious public discourse, at that.
