LUTON, England -- At Bruderer UK, a small firm selling metal-stamping machines from an industrial estate just north of London, business kicked into high gear right after Prime Minister Boris Johnsons big election win last month.
Clients, including the Royal Mint which uses Bruderer equipment to make coins, at last knew for sure that Britain would quit the European Union on Jan. 31. Many have revived plans that had long been on hold.
For three years we were stuck in a rut of indecisiveness, Bruderer UK managing director Adrian Haller said. Once the election happened, there was a massive sigh of relief.
Other businesses are also reporting a post-election recovery, and finance minister Sajid Javid says he is hopeful that Britains economic growth can eventually bounce back to its pre-financial crisis levels of nearly 3% a year.
That would represent a victory for Britains Brexit supporters and possibly inspire euroskeptics within the EU.
Bruderer has just sold two new machines - used to make car parts, fountain pen nibs, scalpels, drink tins and other products - for a total of 1.5 million pounds ($2 million).
The firm, whose turnover for all of 2019 was below 4 million pounds, has also taken on two projects to retool machines for companies worth 140,000 pounds since the vote.
January is usually synonymous with a very, very slow start to the year. Now, were only three weeks in but our feet have not touched the floor, Haller said.

All the anti-Brexit forces needed was a new vote to show that they were right all along... FAIL!
Can hardly wait to see the Dumcrats and media after the Donald wins his second term.
Hugh Manatee! They said it would never happen and we are. Brexit is due Friday.
A year from now Brits will be SO GLAD they got out of the EU mess.
At least the lies from the doom and gloom EU freeper have stopped.
It won't be the first time America has saved Britain.
All of the economic slow down caused by uncertainty was caused by liberals who delayed it and tried to undo it.
If the EU tries to penalize them via trade deals, we can open our trade union with them.
“It won’t be the first time America has saved Britain. “
Trump has several times stated he will work a “huge” trade deal with Britain. It may resemble trading fifty second-rate destroyers for all of Britain’s western hemisphere bases, thus removing them as a player in this hemisphere. But, like the destroyers, they need that deal badly.
Needed after Brexit: a supply-side, growth oriented replacement of class envy and welfare dependence; and an end to environmental extremism.
Nevertheless, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry refused to be photographed with President Trump, and "Princess Meghan" refused to receive him, during his state visit to London.
The close ties of blood, heritage, et al. between the USA and the UK will not be easily broken, but if the Americans manage to expunge the decadence of Western Civilization from the USA, it will be necessary for the Brits to do the same if the trans-Atlantic partnership is to be maintained.
The Trump Effects economic benefits will be impossible to hide soon.
Then, immigration control, and its benefits.
Then, Christian freedom restored, and its blessings.
Then, maybe, their right to bear arms restored.
Trump UK bump for later....
How did the Brits get themselves into such an anti-democratic arrangement as the EU in the first place? The more trade deals they sign with non EU countries ( USA,Japan, Australia, NZ etc)before they finalize their deal with the EU, the stronger their hand when dealing with the EU.
