Merkel in Davos: 'Our mistake was not being prepared for refugee crisis'
Deutsche Welle ^ | 01.23.2020 | Elizabeth Schumacher, Kate Martyr

In a wide-ranging speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, German Chancellor Angela Merkel admitted that Germany had made a mistake during the 2015 refugee crisis. Not, she said, by welcoming asylum-seekers fleeing conflict, but by not preparing for their arrival as civil conflicts began cropping up across the Middle East and northern Africa.

“The mistake was not to have paid attention to create an environment where people can stay in their own country,” the chancellor said.

She warned that the mistake should not be repeated with Libya, where the conflict between the UN-backed government and rival commander Khalifa Haftar is destabilizing other nearby countries like Mali and Niger.

“We have to do everything to ensure a peace process” in Libya, Merkel said, to prevent another major humanitarian crisis and refugee influx. Berlin recently hosted talks between the warring sides in Libya, which ended in an agreement to limit foreign interference and commit to a UN arms embargo. …

Her goal was to destroy Germany. Much as democrats’ goal here is to destroy America.

She had a different approach. I remember her conversion. There was a TV show and a small Arab girl in audience asked Merkel something about migration rules. Merkel’s answer was around conservative lines. She said something like you have your country and we have ours and can’t support every bum. Not exactly the same wording but very blunt. The girl started to scream and cry and it was uneasy on Merkel. She immediately felt the guilt. Then there was a week of media scolding Merkel and in another week she declared open borders.

“... to create an environment where people can stay in their own country...”

This is just a ploy to give hope to her disillusioned supporters that she might actually send most of the unassimilated, troublemaking, military-aged, male, muslim jihadis back, now that fighting has ceased in most of Syria.

She has no intention of doing that, of course.

“The mistake was not to have paid attention to create an environment where people can stay in their own country,” the chancellor said.

It's not like a gazillion people didn't tell her/them about their "mistake" (over, and over, and over); and it' not as if any idiot could not have made the observation immediately in the foolish process.

The "crisis" is Merkel.

Using Merkel-speak...the goal should be to take over all 3rd-world countries...remaking them into Deutschlands, and everyone would stay where they are.

Merkel is saying exactly what she slammed Trump for saying years earlier...

You're right, Tump wanted to set up safe zones so these people could stay in their own countries and return to their own communities when it was safe.

She does realize that EU countries have NAVIES, doesn’t she?

They could end this “refugee crisis” very easily.

The real problem is that OBAMA destabilized the entire Middle East and Bush the second also has much blame for this.

We should have just left the despots alone and this humanitarian crisis would not have happened. Despots keep their own people in check.

We should have just destroyed those that were a clear and present danger as was post 911 and left the rest to misery in their own nations. They have been killing each other for 1400 years. It is not our problem.

Bush the second decided nation building was the answer. He was a fool. Just turn the nation over to the despot of your choice and walk away. If that despot becomes a danger, destroy him from the air and go home. When I say destroy from the air, I mean the leaders and government apparatus of control. Destroy their economy and infrastructure and just go home. That nation or nations will then descend into internal warfare, chaos, misery and death. It is not our problem.

It should be noted that the misery the people are subjected to by their despots is far less than their misery today.

If they are not a clear and present danger, we should have no dog in the fight.
