it is customary for presiding judges in situations like this to bend over backwards as the trial progresses in an attempt to show no preference for either side, in the off chance they might have to break a tie.

What kind of tie? This isn't passing a bill, and Roberts isn't a Senator.

LOL...Relax, PJT, I don’t want to offend your superior knowledge of these matters. I was just musing that the possibility of a close ruling etc. could come his way. But if you say it can’t, I’ll take it to the bank. I was also trying to comment on Robert’s demeanor as a result of his career on the bench.
