But they’re trying to make their case on their ASSUMPTION that the phone call in question was actually an attempt by Trump to get dirt on Biden (presumably to use in a future election) and to enlist Ukraine to do that and that that action would rise to the level of impeachable high crime.
But Biden getting his son on Burisma’s board is obviously a corrupt conflict of interest. And that’s just a matter of FACT.
Biden’s dirt needed no digging. He bragged about it on video.
I think Trump was just giving the new Ukrainian president a heads up.
Since Biden was VP at the time, it was certainly suspect. Politician’s family members getting high paying board positions is disgustingly common, especially since no experience is ever required. It’s just an unwritten benefit that comes from being on a certain team, which uses the correct fork, and positions his napkin in the correct way. The “old boy’s club”. After all, except for the pre-requisite bean counter and a few with actual management experience, board members of big corporations, government and otherwise, are only for the select few members of the club. Little people need not apply.
What is NOT said, nor ever implied, is that there are “favors” attached to the positions, especially those held by the family members of politicians or former politicians. Everyone knows that, no matter how “shocked” they appear at the suggestion.
