How did they get played?
They rejected the Articles of Impeachment in the House, which they have no control over.
They passed their rules resolution last night and tabled more than 8 Demon-rat amendments without losing a Republican Senator (except on one meaningless amendment where Collins voted for it).
What else where they supposed to do?
The RINO's would not have gone for an immediate dismissal - thinking it would be bad media footage.

Treating this travesty and sham as a valid constitutional process is an insult to the country. In doing so the Republican senate is contributing to the establishent of a very dangerous and destructive precedent that will haunt this country for decades to come.
Impeachment should not a political tool to be used at will against your opponents; this will lead to abuses, gridlock and increased divison. The GOP should have dismissed this nonsense but it did not have the political courage to do so.
