President Trump won a huge Senate vote on the procedures to follow for the rest of the trial. This was a test vote on other issues and the president won on what seems to be a party line vote.
And after winning it, he won again, and again...a total of three times, devastating Democrat Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, who was shot down proposing the rule changes.
Schumer (D-NY) wanted to subpoena the White House for documents regarding Ukraine. Something the incompetent House Democrats failed to do by refusing to vote subpoena power to their own Judiciary Committee.
Schumer was reportedly "counting on" Republican "moderates" like Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski to back him. He counted wrong.

So Romney, Collins, and Murkowski did not defect on this one vote.
What did Rep. Val Demings (D-FL) mean about lawyer lawsuits, other than proving once again that democrats have tiny brains?
“Schumer was reportedly “counting on” Republican “moderates” like Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski to back him. He counted wrong.”
Didn’t some people here say that there’s NO DIFFERENCE between the parties...or am I imagining it?
(and I’m not)
So far they have NOT defected on ANY of the votes..just now all Republicans voted AGAINST Mulvaney being forced to testify
I suspect they all heard from voters.
Mitt’s dream of glory and the Presidency all vanished forever.
So far every Republican Senator is sticking by Trump on every vote. They just voted down a democrat motion to require testimony from Mulvaney 53-47. I think that makes 4 for 4.
Bennet, Klobuchar, Sanders and Warren need to recuse as the potential outcome directly benefits them.
Leahy, Menendez and Durbin need to recuse as they went on a fishing expedition in the Ukraine for dirt on President Trump and are tainted.
So that would leave only 32 votes required to acquit instead of 34.
Thank you for the play by play.
Yes, no Republicans defected.....BUT, it is important to note that they voted to table each of these meaning this process will repeat after opening arguments next week.
This was all a waste of time. The point of this was to capture the audience and make their points. They know viewership will diminish by next week and after opening arguments.
The process today was for the audience, dirty up Trump, and the Republicans to show fake solidarity. The real test will be next week.
Yes, the gang of three stood firm.
Despite, that is, the hand-wringing hysterics of the several weak-livered pearl-clutchers at FR.
The value in being a potential “swing” vote is not in actually voting for or against your party, but in appearing that voting against the party is possible so both sides will continue to court your favor and behave as if your vote can be changed.
“So Romney, Collins, and Murkowski did not defect on this one vote.”
no “defection” on THREE votes ...
NO “defections” and VERY unlikely to be any ...
its what i expected because its the only way the GOP can survive: the GOP Senate *HAS* to stick together to demonstrate that the Dem impeachment is nothing but a partisan hack job, AND in no way can the GOP Senate allow even the tiniest little crack for the Dems to wedge their way into turning their partisan farce into a trial that becomes an unlimited circus of bullshit that drags on for months ...
the GOP party either binds together or it falls together under this unprecedented attack by the Dems, and ALL of these Senators get that ... a few will makes noises like they’re open to this or that as a “possibility”, yada, yada, yada, but bottom line they’re all gonna vote in lockstep purely as a means of self-survival ...
“Despite, that is, the hand-wringing hysterics of the several weak-livered pearl-clutchers at FR.”
and who, btw, have been 100% absent on ALL of these threads about 53-47 votes ...
So Jones and Manchin went with schmukie.
Personally, I do not trust Joe Manchin. He has been a Demonrat far too long. It appears that he is only interested in his political career, not the people of West Virginia.
I’ve been trolling them a lot - I bet others have been sending similar messages.
