Today, the United States spends more than $100 billion on policing each year. Cities often spend anywhere from 30 to 50 percent of their total budgets toward policing, and some exceed $1 billion. There are more than 12,300 local police departments in the United States and 468,000 sworn, full-time officers with arresting power, a 34 percent increase since 1987.
While politicians have often painted the rise in police officers as improving public safety, the truth is that the escalation of mass policing police personnel, resources and police contact has produced persistent harassment, arrest and soaring rates of police violence in black communities, as well as other communities of color.

The politicians are eager to cut the police force and put the blame for increased crime on guns and racism. As long as there is plenty of armed protection for them and theirs.
Reduce police force.
Confiscate guns.
Let illegal aliens run wild.

If youre not going to put criminals in jail then why have the police at all? Why have prosecutors? Why have judges ?

Having worked in government, I have seen the budgets. The police departments are always budgeted to show a positive income stream. Done through tickets, forfeitures, sale of impounded cars etc.
Many of his assertions are stated without any evidence, but one relevant piece of data is that we have about 6 percent of the world’s population and about 25 percent of the world’s prison population.
This implies we have a societal problem. But it’s not just all racism, as he asserts.

The US population in 1987 was approximately 242 million. In 2018 it was approximately 327 million. An increase of 85 million, which is roughly a 35% increase which matches almost precisely with the increase in spending. SMH.
