I was almost tempted to click on the link and read the whole article but then I remembered by New Year's Resolution.
Does it get any better? And by that I mean, did she recognize that she needs to seek professional help?
She is the “professional” she has been waiting for.
I’m impressed—an actual resolution to follow the unofficial FR protocols on commenting.
I think she is the professional help!
I read it for you, sadly. Its like reading the thoughts of my miserable drunk of a wife number 2. This old cow seems to be a borderline violent psychopath. Naturally the broad works in the mental health field.
No it doesn’t get any better and no she still has never met and spoken to a Trump supporter because she is very comfortable in her totally non-diverse bubble. Like most liberals she is afraid of the things she has never encountered and unwilling to go outside her comfort zone. For those of us on the right diversity actually is our strength. We are forced to live in a world where every government building, school building, and most retail establishments are run by and full of liberals. Usually we pass incognito but slip on a hat and all of a sudden your are Baphomet incarnate.
No: she is the professional help who is here to tell you that being triggered is a problem that can be avoided by being understanding. Which presumes you actually interact with those you do not interact with due to being protected from being triggered.
For what the story is a testimony to is how isolated and brainwashed she is, likely in her university cocoon, being protected from being triggered so that, being programed by the likes of MSNBC, when she sees a MAGA hat, ,
My mind floods with images of climate activist Greta Thunberg crying How dare you? and white men marching in straight-pride parades, wielding swastikas, guns and Confederate flags. I envision immigrant children warehoused in cages
So the MAGA hat triggers in me a slideshow of sorrow and shock from todays volatile and divisive world, and Im no longer capable of being curious or compassionate for all the experiences that make this man who he is: a human (like me) desperately trying to belong and survive, who (like me) is socialized by complex forces outside of his awareness and control, and who (like me) may feel fear, grief, powerlessness or shame hiding under his armor of anger. I
Instead I slip into a false refuge of certainty. I know this guy hes a fascist, racist, misogynistic, homophobe.
The source of the problem isnt rogue individuals being triggered, as Trump Jr. argues, but a vicious culture that is triggering. As we become more divided, the more we attack each other, the more we are left unable to truly see each other as complex human beings and have empathy for each others needs and struggles. - Joanna Cheek is a psychiatrist and clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of British Columbiahttps://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2020-01-16/maga-trump-jr-ucla-triggering ______________
Here in this lower-income densely populated city of mostly working pleasant amicable Central Americans they rehabbed an old factory building and turned it into condos. Which (in the name of diversity) they filled with what we used to call "Yuppies." Hardly a single child, but plenty of pets, and almost zero interaction with the neighborhood.
How much more isolated intellectual liberals like this lady likely are, as with Liz Warren it seems, and thus besides the brainwashed view of the Right, they come up with fantastical absurd welfare schemes that are imagined in the rarified air of the church of Starbucks.
