Blackburn Calls for Recusal of Democrat Presidential Candidates from the Impeachment Process

Wednesday, January 15, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) gave the following statement regarding the participation of the four Senators running for president in the Senate impeachment trial:

“Tomorrow, one hundred United States Senators will be sworn in to serve in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump. Four of those Senators must recuse themselves for their unparalleled political interest in seeing this President removed from office. These four Democrats, Senators Bennet, Klobuchar, Sanders, and Warren, cannot sit in judgment of the very President they seek to replace. To participate in this trial would be a failure of the oath they took to be an ‘impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws’. Their presidential ambitions prohibit their ability to view this trial through an objective lens.” – Senator Marsha Blackburn

BACKGROUND

In Andrew Johnson’s impeachment trial, an objection was lodged against an Ohio senator who was next in line to become President, if Johnson were removed.

They will be voting for the removal of their political rival for the office of POTUS. It should be a no-brainer that they have to recuse themselves.

That means they can campaign. He won’t like it. That means 4 MORE Republican senators to convict. Good luck with that one.

The whole basis of this witch hunt is that Trump tried to interfer with the election. So The dems need to remove themselves or they should be impeached for interfering in a election.

Democrats can be as partisan as they like and that’s fine with the Weak Sisters, Pierre Delecto and Mike Lee.

If Republicans in the Senate had the balls, they would end this nonsense on Tuesday, have both sides issue opening statements, then have the vote for dismissal.

Why the Senate insists on taking this febrile nonsense seriously is beyond me.

Trump hasn’t even been charged with a crime. That’s not in dispute.

Today, Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) gave the following statement regarding the participation of the four Senators running for president in the Senate impeachment trial:

Should not all of the Democrat Senators recuse themselves? The House impeachment was clearly a partisan action, with 100% of the House Republicans voting against the questionable articles.

Only Democrats, ignoring past protocol, ignoring the Constitution, ignoring their own Housse rules, ignoring requests by Republicans to allow witnesses, voted with bias and some voted, against their better judgement, to impeach.

Because the House action was partisan, all of the Senate Democrats should recuse themselves, to be fair.

i semi agree.

Senate has to take it seriously to the point that they receive the info and formally address it to say it’s partisan trash and vote to toss it out.

Even if the House mocked and misued the impeachment process - I don’t see why the Senate should misuse their part in the porcess of examine what is sent them and address it as their rules state.

They must! Heck, the first impeachment article accuses PDJT of trying to eliminate a rival and what will they be voting on? Trying to eliminate a rival!!!

Also note he did not mention Slow Joe in the phone call transcript. So the RATs are by nature of their article throwing Joe under the bus.

Under their standard, every President of this country could be impeached for being partisan.

Like that’s a bad thing.
