I agree 100%. No additional witnesses.
Geez, now everyone is worried about fairness. Give me a break. Bad vibes are oozing out.
Read the Constitution section on impeachment. It takes a 2/3 majority to convict, and it takes a conviction to impose ANY penalty.
Cruz can’t resist, his inner weasel always comes out when it gets down to the short strokes.
The only witnesses allowed will be those with information material to the two charges, which are 1) Abuse of Power and 2) Obstruction of Congress.
Most persons whose testimony (if truthful) could hurt the Democrats have zero relevance to these charges. What, for example, would Hunter Biden know about either of those?
Just as the trial is not an open-ended investigation of Trump, it is also not a forum for investigation of the Deep State corruption and attempted coup.
Maybe something like, 2 days each side to call witnesses and then 16 hours to wrap up closing.
“...he [Trump] must be allowed any and all that he can muster to clear his name...”
Agreed. It seems really odd that their isn’t a standard procedure for this type of thing. It sounds like the Dems are trying to allow only THEIR witnesses - and Cruz is negotiating the reciprocity idea.
I guess that is one suggestion as they make up the rules as they go along. I don’t know why they can’t just use the well-established rules for U.S. court rooms.
This idea, if managed, will give PDJTs day in court.
People that do not want to give him his day, are the ones that are complicit in money laundering and a coup against a sitting president.
None of this should be given any legitimacy.
It provides the Dems power to call witnesses one for one. Trump should be able to call as many witnesses as he wants without a one for one check.
It doesn’t really matter if the GOP has skeletons in the closet. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows the corruption runs deep on both sides. The Senate trial should be a one-sided, totally unfair process against the Rats, and in support of Trump.
No there must be limits on it or the dems will have their three ring circus in high gear
So you are in favor of denying PDJT's constitutional rights for his day in court because you are afraid of giving "legitimacy" to the dems?
Isn't that a form of surrender?
Considering the fact that they want this whole adventure to be over in two weeks, I don’t see many witnesses being brought in. There might be enough time to bring two each. Will be curious if Joe Biden would accept an invitation (if he declines)...then all bets are off on witnesses being allowed.
“What, for example, would Hunter Biden know about either of those?”
He could show that Trump had a legitimate basis for wanting the Burisma corruption investigated.
“What, for example, would Hunter Biden know about either of those?”
Hunter might now KNOW any specific thing, but he can CONFIRM that POTUS had a legitimate reason for what he said in the call. Therefore, no abuse of power.
More wet dreams for the concern trolls to glom onto...worry not.
Ive been seeing this differently for weeks. I have said all along that NEITHER side wants to have any witnesses in a Senate trial ... and all this posturing is just a way to make the other side force the issue.

Bingo. Both Dems and Republicans are dirty with bribes-by-proxy and they don’t want that rock turned over.
Agree. No witnesses is the smart play. Trump has the game in hand. Be conservative, take the knee, run out the clock and go home with the win.
All the information that would be valuable in an impeachment defense will still be valuable afterward, but with the advantage that Trump can release that information when he decides it is the most advantageous.
