Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) says the Senate will begin debating an organizing resolution to start the Senate trial on Tuesday of next week.
The GOP leader said Chief Justice John Roberts will swear in senators as jurors this week, before the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
McConnell said the House is expected to send over articles of impeachment on Wednesday and that the Senate will then have to go through a series of preliminary steps and housekeeping measures.
“We hope to achieve that by consent, which would set us up to begin the actual trial next Tuesday,” the GOP leader added.
McConnell clarified that a debate and vote on the organizing resolution, which will determine time limits for the House impeachment managers and the president’s defense team to make their opening arguments as well as for senators to ask questions, will happen next week.
The Senate will then notify the president’s defense team to appear and give the White House several days to respond.

The Senators have to be very careful to not open Pandora’s Box if witnesses are called lest their money laundering operations with foreign aid be exposed for the world to see.

I still cannot get over my resentment and disbelief that this headline exists in reality.
Both sides have things..they DO NOT want exposed.
.……..is ANYBODY EVER going to raise hell about “the cost” of this impeachment. Senate and House overhead are bound to be in the millions per day. Any way you look at it, the taxpayers are getting it up their exhaust pipe to the tune of tens of millions if not hundreds of millions depending on which CPA uses what method to calculate overhead.
All because of one deranged, Marxist/socialist old hag of a woman who TERM LIMITS would have swept out with the garbage a long time ago.

Call Schiff as first witness. First question should be, “you announced you had evidence on Trump’s dealings with both Russia and Ukraine. How come none of that evidence was presented at the impeachment inquiry?” After he stammers for a bit, move to dismiss.
Democrats are in no hurry.... impeachment still held hostage.

IMHO these two articles of impeachment to not meet the standards of the Constitution of high crimes and misdemeanors. This thing should be dismissed right from the start.
If they had any man parts, it would end Tuesday afternoon.
If it weren’t for the RINOs, it would be.
