Yeah, I know what you’re saying, we had a boxer like that when I was a kid.

Yeah because he never suspended the rules? His EPA director refuses to toss out the endangerment finding for carbon dioxide.

Also, they have particulate, mercury, and NOx emissions limits to deal with. All based on modeling from the same studies.

Next? They have been anti-frac for years, and anti natgas in general, it’s a “fossil fuel” and common byproduct of producing oil.

I believe the the prof in the below link has more current information — 2018. And his post on Youtube was December 30, 2019.

His point is that demand will increase over time. Side note: he points out that we are energy independent.

"350 years of proven recoverable coal reserves in North America. It’s a shame to walk away from it now..."

* It won't be mined for it's BTUs.
* It will be mined for it's Rare Earths.
* Got to hear the Sec of Energy on Howie Carr am680 WRKO Friday and I was shocked.
* He alluded to after Howie asking randomly about EV's and the Secretary noted that Coal has Rare Earths (for Motors, electronics, Batteries).
* Their is an MIT paper on this I think from 2016.

Only mentioned here on FR by me and I am not taking credit. However, Team Trump is possibly way sharper than anyone gives them credit, and they are also reading us to see what the base is thinking. I'll either option....

"Call fired or even large power plants are becoming more and more obsolete as distributed power takes over the business Right now in California more than 50% of the peak load of 60,000 MW is Photovoltaic on any given summer day in the sun Furthermore small natural gas fired power plants of 40 to 60 MW are incredibly cheap and small and easy to Tie in to the different distribution points For a utility."

Yes, but at a cost, and correct me if I am wrong here but this is how I understand it. I have a friend doing the Solar install in CA and his juice goes to the grid not his home, unless he spends extra $ for the back-up system.

Mark Schnieder of the "GreenNuclearDeal" has noted the biggest promoter of Solar and Wind is the Natural Gas Lobby, since they get to back stop this deal w/ Natural Gas Fired Units.

Listened to it again. I couldn’t find where he stated that we had 40 more years of nat gas. But it is an interesting point that demand for energy will increase dramatically in the future. Mostly due to China and India.

What we need is reliable nuclear power.

Here is another interesting video (same professor).

Coal can be mined, the rare earths- and mercury and other pollutants removed- and put back for later use for it’s BTUs.
Gas prices WILL rise, and we’ll always need reliable energy sources.

Did some quick research.

There are coal plants still in operation that were built when FDR was President. Many of them were built when Truman or Eisenhower were President. Of course the closing them! It costs more to upgrade them then built new!

My family built a water-only cyclone coal wash plant to remove those rare earths. We were driven by the need to meet a 5 pound SO2 limit...

God kept Jimmy Carter around long enough to rub his nose in it.

W Bush's R&D investment in switchgrass was so stupid, especially having been raised by a successful Texas oilman. That money should have gone into fracking technology.

More people have died in Ted Kennedy's car than in all the commercial reactor nuke accidents in the United States.

I had the bumper sticker.

You would think they’d like that coal plants are closing...yet they use it as a way to slam President Trump and they never get around to telling us that they’re being replaced by their own happy power sources....which they try to tie in with “cheap and abundant natural gas.....and SUBSIDIZED wind and solar...”

Read too where coal can be processed to produce diesel. I wonder if coal will be reintroduced in the future when nat gas becomes harder to come by.

Hopefully by then we will have realized that nuclear is our future.

I wonder if certain people had invested in switch grass and that is why there was interest in it? Follow the money.
