Council on Foreign Relations member Qanta Ahmed weighed in on Sunday on the anti-government protests that had erupted at Iranian universities across the country on Saturday in response to Irans admission that it unintentionally shot down a Ukrainian passenger plane killing all 176 people on board, saying that she thinks this regime, for the first time ever, is seriously threatened.
Ahmed, a Muslin scholar, made the comment on Fox & Friends Weekend on Sunday adding that the regime is in its most fragile and precarious time probably since 1979.
Theyve had a disastrous outcome to their attempt of intimidating the United States, their attempts on the embassy in Baghdad failed, theyve had Qassem Soleimani [figuratively] decapitated, they had to admit that they shot down their own commercial airliner, killing hundreds of people, 83 Iranians, many Iranians have lost multiple family members, she explained.
The head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard's aerospace division had told state TV that his unit accepts full responsibility for shooting down the Ukrainian aircraft, just minutes after it took off from Tehrans international airport on Wednesday. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani blamed human error in a tweet Friday, and called it a "great tragedy and unforgivable mistake."
Crowds of students chanted for the Revolutionary Guards to let go of the country! and also mentioned Soleimani, saying that he was a murderer" and "his leader is too! President Trump had ordered the drone strike on Solemani and declared the world a safer place following his death.

I wonder if that doofus imam still thinks “there’s nothing Trump can do about it.”
Wishful thinking. Could wish it true.
I have a hunch the turkey is having second thoughts.
Has sweater wearing Jimma Carter chimed in on all this stuff yet?
While I agree the regime has never before been in jeopardy, I’m wonderin’ why this analyst thinks this time will be any different.
As soon as the killing starts the protests will stop.
They always do.
Maybe, but I don't think Iranian young people are identical to American young people.
I dont know, there were protests that seemed more massive than this a year ago and it just fizzled out as usual.
While they have shown some interest in liberty, so far they have shown no interest in killing for it.
A few innocents dying will make no difference. But a few of them killing could make all the difference in the world.
To the Iranian regime, protests mean nothing.
Targeted killing of clerics and other regime supporters, are another story. When THAT gets started in earnest, THEN the mullahs can be worried.
I would agree with you if President Trump wasn’t tightening the screws with more sanctions as POTUS.
Not saying the radicals won’t crush the unrest again but there’s some outside help for the people there hasn’t been with past presidents.
theyve had Qassem Soleimani [figuratively] decapitated

The pictures of his grisly remains argue it was literally.
The people of Iran alone cannot effect change. The military, or at least portions of it, needs to change sides.

I wouldn’t take took seriously what this woman says. First of all, there weren’t “hundreds” killed in the plane that went down. She’s a propagandist, pure and simple.
The Mullahs May feel threatened but fundamental Muslims know how to deal with us Infidels, and also Muslim Heretics who are more into worldly gain, than in doing what Allah and Muhammad want done.
The fundamentalists will just kill them like they have always done to Muslim Heretics since the days of Muhammad 1400 years ago. -Tom

And their daddies and mommies were probably the ones protesting the Shah and demanding the Ayatollahs take over, which they did.
I always figured the children of the 1980s would soon have their fill of the moslem madness that their folks foisted off on them.

But other than that...
I distinctly remember when the protestors got going in earnest during the Obama regime. Obama quickly sided with the mullahs and threw the protestors to the wolves. Many dies as a result of Obama’s actions on behalf of the mullahs.
