What the heck does that mean? I can't defend my rights because I'm over 55?
I saw that. That sucks. I can shoot as well and keep up with most of them.
I am 68 and can consistently put my rounds were I want them to go.
Screw that.
Want servers? Go to a cafeteria.
I’m a better shot now at 70 than I was at 55 simply because I practice more often and have better weapons.
I think what they are referring to is not the ability to defend, rather the physical ability needed to keep up with an organized unit. With that said, at 55 I had the physical capabilities to do so, at my current age not so much.
However someone like me would be excellent for guard or observation duties. As a combat vet, it’s already built into me to engage an enemy as opposed to running away.
The militia of the Commonwealth of Virginia shall consist of all able-bodied residents of the Commonwealth who are citizens of the United States and all other able-bodied persons resident in the Commonwealth who have declared their intention to become citizens of the United States, who are at least 16 years of age and, except as hereinafter provided, not more than 55 years of age. The militia shall be divided into three classes: the National Guard, which includes the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard; the Virginia Defense Force; and the unorganized militia. (Code of Virginia, § 44-1.)
BS. At 71 I can still hit center mass. Even with a bumb hand. Took lots of dry fry practice to learn to do it.
