There is a video without any solid confirmation of validity which supposedly shows the attack from a night vision device in the area. In that video you can see a target designator in use, and both cars are engaged by 30mm cannon fire seconds before the missiles hit.
If that happened, which would be consistent with early reports from Iraq of helicopters in the area, then there would be a good reason for the other special forces teams to take their time arriving on site.
