Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, was slammed by the animal rights organization PETA on Thursday for not being a good role model.
The New York Democrat could have influenced her millions of social media followers by adopting a rescue mutt from a shelter, PETA argued, but instead the congresswoman took home a purebred French bulldog.
“AOC had a chance to set a compassionate, responsible example in the face of the homeless-animal crisis, but instead, she apparently inadvertently contributed to the problem,” PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said in a letter. “PETA is urging her supporters not to follow her lead in this case and to stick up for the underdog by choosing to give a lovable mutt a new lease on life.”

Even though he hates Biden and knows he’s an imbecile, my cousin bought a German Shepherd from the same breeder. Had I known, I would have begged him not to. After 30 yrs in GSDs, I have the hang of this and know what a good breeder is.
The poor pup suffered two rounds of gastric torsion. They got him to the hospital in time the first time and the vet stapled his stomach, propholatically.
But, he bloated *again*.
This time, he didn’t survive.
My cousin is gutted. The pup was only a year old. He may never own a dog again.
GSDs are very prone to gastric torsion, so I have watched the research for many years about causation. There have been many theories.
The final conclusion: genetics.
How many people raced to get a puppy from the same irresponsible breeder?

Guess what PETA asswipes. She’s not here “to set a compassionate, responsible example” for anything or anybody.
She went from living on tips to buying a $3000 pure bred because that’s what Socialists do. Take other peoples money.
I used to get purebreds but 4 years ago, at the urging of my daughter, I got a rescue dog and now I’m sold. It’s a wonderful dog and that’s the route I’ll go with any pet I ever get in the future.

For once, PETA is correct.
Tried the rescue route. Refused to fill out the multiple pages of info, including personal AND financial info the shelters wanted.
I’ll take a reputable breeder anyday.
I love dogs.
I’d love to get a dog.
I work 12-hour shifts.
If I got a dog, my family would have to take care of it while I’m at work.
Not fair to them, or the dog.
So, I can’t get a dog.
AOC is lucky.
She has a, “Community,” dog.
She doesn’t have that problem.
