The Chicken Littles got everything wrong on Trump and Iran
NY Post ^ | January 8 2020 | Michael Goodwin

If you went to bed early Tuesday, you were surprised to wake up Wednesday and learn that World War III has been delayed. No doubt you were also shocked that Iran blinked, oil prices were tumbling and the stock market was soaring.

Once again, the Chicken Little chorus got everything all wrong. The sky isn’t falling and Donald Trump pulled off a huge victory. Oh, and he’s still president.

Iran’s decision to pretend it was retaliating for the death of Qassem Soleimani, by lobbing ineffective missiles is terrific news for America and freedom loving people everywhere. So was Trump’s Wednesday offer of negotiations, which he wrapped in even tougher economic sanctions and warnings against any new attacks on Americans.

There were more than a few right here on FR, along with plenty of others who still want war...

The Dallas Morning News was tripling down with their “MOAR BLOWBACK!!!” headlines. It’s fun being a Democrat, trotting out propaganda, and never once having to say, “Mea culpa.”

Had those missiles killed Americans as first suspected, I would not shed a tear if Iran had been turned to glass... just sayin ...

I used to subscribe to the Dallas Morning News, but as it cut back on local arts coverage and got more and more crazy left/anti-Trump, I canceled it. I did have to resubscribe for weekends only, but just because my wife and I rescue parrots and have 13 large bird cages. That’s right: I get the DMN solely because we need bird cage liner. I can’t think of any other reason anyone would subscribe.

I sure as hell don’t. I’ve said before here I don’t give a rats whisker for the Syrians, the Kurds, the Iranians or any of these 7th. century barbarians and their endless sectarian blood feuds. I don’t want anymore of our young men and women dying and being physically and psychologically scared and broken in wars that never seem to end but are always starting up in some Mid East crap hole.

That certainly would have changed everything. Obviously no nukes would be used, but I have no doubt that Trump would have responded appropriately, or as Pelosi would claim, “disproportionately”.

They long for a day when the sky actually does fall. Then, they reckon, it won’t matter how many times they were wrong before.

Define war? You doves around here make it sound like the choice was between an all out invasion of Iran and doing nothing. That is a false narrative and a false choice. You know it too and so does normal America.

Of course I know it, that was my point. You had doves running around screaming “Trump just started WW3”, while the hawks were calling for the total destruction of Iran. Neither were anywhere near reality. War was never really an option unless Iran forced it.

Tucker Carlson ate a little crow last night after foolishly describing the event as the beginning of WWIII.

I use the DMN as firestarter, but pick mine up at Whataburgers.

Wait until the afternoon and nobody cares, as long as you leave the Sports pages and coupons.
