Increasingly alarmed that Bernie Sanders could become their partys presidential nominee, establishment-minded Democrats are warning primary voters that the self-described democratic socialist would struggle to defeat President Donald Trump and hurt the partys chances in premier House, Senate and governors races.
The urgent warnings come as Sanders shows new signs of strength on the ground in the first two states on the presidential primary calendar, Iowa and New Hampshire, backed by a dominant fundraising operation.
The Vermont senator has largely escaped close scrutiny over the last year as his rivals doubted the quirky 78-year-olds ability to win the nomination. But less than a month before Iowas kickoff caucuses, the doubters are being forced to take Sanders seriously. [ ]
The increasingly vocal concerns are coming from a number of political veterans tied to the Obama administration and the 2020 fields moderate wing, including those backing former Vice President Joe Biden, former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet.

GO BERNIE GO!!!!
Get AOC more involved too.
He was okay with the Dem cheating machine paying him off back in 2016.
Bloomberg won’t. Seems he’s in it just to abuse his ability to do unlimited ad buys. His recent photo ops have been dismal (just some guy on a subway; at BBQ, “look how he loves ribs!” with no ribs shown - moron).
I’ve seen cases where a party simply has zero chance of winning an office (NY Gov in particular), so just runs a nobody who has no expectations and nothing to lose. Democrats seem there for this race. They might just run Bernie because, for most of the party, he’s disposable.
He already was once!
Because DNC white liberal elites who pick 'the winner' don't want it to look like they're picking the winner. It's called 'fooling most of the democrats' all of the time.
never underestimate the power of the coin toss...
Exactly it doesn’t really matter who the D’s nominate, none of them can win the White House... what matters is down ballot.... and the further left the nominee is, the more down ballot the dems will lose and know it.
You can’t pretend to be a “moderate” in a swing district, when you have a presidential candidate out there talking about taking your guns, and your money, and giving away free everything...
Bernie is my idol. How to become a multimillionaire with ever working a day in his life. (sarc)
I think it’s in the cards.
Not yet overheard, outside the convention...
Hey, what’s Big Mike doing here, all dressed up with a speech in hand?
Well I didn’t say Bernie would win with it. Romney’s 47% is a real number. The unforeseen economic black swan appear 1 or 2 months prior to the 2020 election & Bernie could be formidable. He might not be as “strategically stupid” in his campaign strategy as Hellary. I actually think Bernie’s time has come & gone. His time was 2016 when he & Trump appealed to the “outcast” voting demographic; both were “outsiders”.
People vote via emotion not via reason. Americans are no different. I resisted that conclusion for a decades.
The Democratic Establishment is going to get the Jeb! Bush treatment this year.
It’s AOC’s party now.
2016 was a rejection of what Obama was doing.
And Bernie would never have stood a chance against Trump.
While that is true Bernie’s faction will split off from the Democrat party if Bernie is a contender and the Democrat Convention nominates someone who didn’t even compete in the primaries. I look forward to the Socialists running Bernie Sanders or perhaps Tulsi Gabbard in the fall.
I do believe that the Democrat nominee just might come in third.
Why should the Dems fear this development? He’ll lose. Embrace the soc.
We will agree to disagree then.
I know a lot of labor Bernie bots who voted for Trump here in WV & western Pa. They voted for Trump for two reasons:
1. Bernie didn’t get the nomination & they were pissed,
2. Trump was an outsider like Bernie.
The good news is, they’ll likely stay Trump in 2020, but a percentage of them (I don’t know how high!) still yearn for the Bern.
Let’s also not forget that both Trump & Bernie brought in voters that never voted. (Trump - not as many as I had hoped) Trump may have lost some of that appeal. He had to govern and whatever “paradise” a particular “never-voter” wanted didn’t happen. That voter may go back to not voting or go for the Bern! That voter can maintain his fantasy with Bernie since Bernie hasn’t done any governing yet (or anything else! Amazingly Bernie isn’t even as qualified as Zero! Zero did have 2 private sector jobs - ice cream salesman & newsletter editor. Bernie has never worked!).
The more of them learn the truth about Bernard Sanders (as he called himself while mayor of Burlington VT), the less like an outsider he will seem. Getting paid off by the DNC to support Hillary would be one clue.
The sheer irony here is that he quite possibly won it fair and square last time and might even had won the election.
Umm, last time didn't he roll over for Hillary Clinton in exchange for a nice summer home on Lake Champlain?
“Would love to see PDJT debate this a$$hate.”
Me, too. Just being in the same room with PDJT would send Bernie into Bonkersville:
“Capitalist pig!! Exploiter of the masses! Enemy of the proletariat! Wall Street imperialist! Evil warmongering butcher!!”
I dont think he could have won the election he comes off as a grump old man NOT appealing to half of America!!
