I don't think the court cares where the child-support payments come from - current income or accumulated savings as long as they are made. I've not been through this myself but I really don't see how that matters to the court.
It wouldn't surprise me that in extraordinary situations where payment might be a concern and the defendant has large accumulated wealth that the court might be able to order the defendant to fund an annuity that would cover the child-support payments until the kid is an adult.
