This is one of those things that makes you wonder what the real backstory is, the one behind the scenes.
Australia had “too many” kangaroos for a long time. Kangaroos are food. How can a country have “too much” food? Isnt there someone out there besides me that would be happy to help out the Aussies by eating a few? Ok, ya, there are the enviro/animal whackos...
But what about the camels? Those are feral. They don’t belong there. Arent they “displacing indigenous species”? You know what camels are made of? Food! How the hell do you get to the place that there is so much food you don’t know what to do with it?
Don’t even get me started on Americans pissing and moaning about pigeons.
I’d wager roasted camel, camel stew and camel jerky all palatable.
