A scapegoat. In the old days millenia ago, all the sins of the tribe would be heaped upon the goat and it would be driven away to it’s death.
Weinstein is sleezy and skeezy, but the way hollywood has turned on him is nothing but hollywood virtue signaling and absolving itself of blame for decades of casting couch moguls, and starlet whores who begrudgingly put out in exchange for a part.
In that sense, he is a scapegoat. We will see no new prosecutions after his. We will be told the “problem” is over.
I totally agree with your scapegoat characterization. The Hollywood and Washington establishment would love this to be the end of it so they can condemn Weinstein publicly while continuing to do much worse.
