To: Secret Agent Man

Utility rates are approved by governmental bodies. They can’t just pass on the costs on their own. It remains to be seen how this all shakes out. The bottom line is individuals are NOT going to be fined $1,000 per day under this law no matter how many times this falsehood is posted here.

True, but the utilities will get their money one way or another as well. By not doing future projects, by cutting maintenance, by padding figures, by not letting any penalty fees slide, by overestimating necessary rate increase socthat the compromise figure is closer to what they want,...

No business will operate at a loss. They will do whatever they can when targeted by government.

It remains to be seen how this all shakes out.

Do ya think this will somehow benefit the end users using water and other resources? Think again. Just the fact they're threatening the water utilities with punitive costly legislation can only mean the end users are going to get screwed again.
