The rings in the photos are not the same rings, not even that close. The ring on the dead guy’s hand actually more closely resembles the one on the militia leader that was killed along with Soleimani.

A ring that chunky may have had a function besides looking cheesy. Maybe it works like a locket and contains cyanide or some such thing in case he got cornered. Maybe it is used to impress a mark on communications sent by courier to guarantee authenticity like old fashioned wax seal.
