We had the same problem after WW2 with Japan and Shinto. It was a religion and a form of government. Whatever we did to separate the two parts so we could kill the government aspect and leave the religious aspect alone it what we should do with Islam. I believe anything else is doomed to failure. We can’t expect or force a couple of billion people to give up their religion. Never going to happen. But we might be able to get them to give up their form of government for a better one.
