“The killing of the high-level commander, first reported by Iraqi state TV and later confirmed in a Pentagon statement, is the US’s most significant escalation of tensions against Iran yet and is likely to further inflame conflict in the region and provoke severe retaliation.”

How many Americans and civilians were killed in the past two decades as a consequence of Bush’s and Obama’s reticence? How does that compare to the “escalation” and “further inflame” and “severe retaliation” that the author frets about?

Bush administration snatched disaster from the jaws of victory in Iraq.
We had half our army in Iraq, and I remember Syria and Iran were walking on eggshells.

Then Bush put our tanks in garages and they started killing our troops in Iraq. IED’s and public assassinations. Should never have been allowed.
