I was starting up a new power plant in Arizona in 1975. A couple of guys working for me would always tackle the JUMBLE during breaks. That was almost FIFTY years ago! They got me hooked on it, too, for many years. That was back when Henri Arnold and Bob Lee wrote it.
I used to do them on the bus on my way home from high school. Sometimes I didn’t have the 50 cents for the paper, but no problem. Invariably someone else on the bus would be doing the puzzle and I could look over their shoulder and try to guess the answers before they could write them in.
