They aren't all bad apples, but far too many televangelists are in it for the money and/or preach bad theology. This is terribly unfortunate, because for many of the unchurched, they are the face of Christianity, not only here, but around the world.
To cite one example a nephew of Benny Hinn wrote a book about him that was simply devastating - the greed, the fraud was everywhere in that ministry.

We agree. I was exposed to that kind of stuff in San Antonio, back in the 1980's, when the movement really got going. Fraud, deceit, bad theology, I'm glad I got out of it when I did. Unfortunately it kept it's hooks into my now ex-wife and she still clings to it.
This is the kind of church that the Lord will "spew out of his mouth."
