You hit on a key factor of Democratic politics in Virginia...there are two groups. There’s the urbanized Fairfax type Democratic voter who’d easily vote for a far-left agenda, and then there’s the south-of-Manassas Democratic voter who wants a working-class agenda without all the identity politics involved.
You can ask a hundred Democrats around Richmond about gun agendas, and more than two-thirds don’t want much done. If you get over to the far southwestern end of the state, and probably 95-percent of Democrats don’t want any extra gun laws put into place.
County-wise in 2016, Trump carried a two-to-one county advantage in the election. But Trump lost by 210,000 votes...most coming out of Fairfax, Richmond, Arlington, and the coastal region.
Overrun by Yankees. Democrats start out with a 200,000 vote advantage. Unless you can flip the demographics, Trump isnt going to win the Old Dominion State.
I dont see him wasting time campaigning there.
Loudoun and Prince William are now also full-blown Communists.
Things like that and 8 years of having refugees and other assorted immigrants dumped in the area..........
The Democrats are talking about doing things that even the NOVA types are going to not like.
Like eliminating single-family zoning. How many people sitting on million dollar homes are going to want to risk having a multi-family conversion going in across the street? This is the Democrat plan.
Like wasting time on the Equal Rights Amendment. That issue is expired. It will be a fight over nothing.
Like a $15 minimum wage. This will gut restaurants and local businesses. You only have to peel of 20% of the NOVA base to make the Democrats losers. How many small business owners are there in NOVA?

Yes, and we have seen, in recent years, voting results held back time after time, until other results were in. Results in large, urban areas.
Of course we know Dems would never cheat.
