IMHO the first non-white PM will be a Tory one, just like the first (and second) female PM were Tories.
The trouble with Labour is that they are brazen SJWs and if they put forward a female as leader she will be a shrill, irritating feminist and a non-white leader will be a race baiter with a history of whining about whitey and muh oppression. They will not give the impression that they got where they end up on colour/gender blind merit, rather than tokenism.
The Tories, ideologically, are all about merit and would quickly shun a female or minority candidate that tried to play that card and would alienate their core vote by doing it. Britons want a PM who they feel will fight their corner rather than just their own demographic faction.
I think Sajid Javid or Priti Patel are in with a good chance of becoming a future PM. They come across as patriotic, decent and love the country that gave them the opportunities they have seized, not whining about being held back by a country and society they prefer to demonize as evil and bigoted, and then attempt to persuade the people whose country, culture and skin colour they have insulted to vote for them. Lammy would get torn to shreds even more than Corbyn. Whiny BAMES, university “educated” SJWs and Guardian reading dipsticks dont constitute a sizable enough number of the electorate for Lammy to get the votes he needs to win a GE.
Quite possibly so. In mentioning Lammy I wasn’t suggesting any degree of probability that he could become PM greater than that attached to any leader of one of the main parties. I didn’t mention Javid etc simply because, unlike Labour, a Tory leadership contest isn’t imminent.
...and lo and behold, Lammy’s now withdrawn anyway....
