There are various absurdities in these voter ID cases.

A few which come to mind :

1. The NAACP in this lawsuit is apparently saying that black voters are too inept to find out how to get an ID.

2. These lawsuits ignore the fact, that virtually everyone has a government issued ID nowadays, for other reasons,as needed for other activities in life.

3. Open question — does one need some sort of ID to get government public assistance benefits? If so, isn’t it a simple segway to use such ID people already have, as their ID to vote?

The government has NO problem regulating virtually every aspect of human existence. If you want a license, open a bank account, get a job, board a plane, register a car, buy a property, buy a gun, get married, buy beer and do a whole host of other things (including all manner of public assistence), you need an ID. Some reason, they want to exempt the single most important act of citizenship from such regulations.

I have a proposal. Okay, voter fraud doesn't happen. Fine. No ID. BUT, if you are caught committing voter fraud, it should carry ten years mandatory prison. No parole, no pardons possible. It's a win win.

Call their bluff.
