The FAA grounded the MAX on 13 March 2019 - two years after certification.

387 planes made 500,000 safe scheduled flights before the second crash.

Curiously, two weeks after the Ethiopian crash in March 2019, the Ethiopian government would not allow Boeing or NTSB to examine the crash site, the flight recorders, the maintenance logs, or the wreckage.

I actually do not know when or if Boeing/NTSB have ever examined the Ethiopian evidence.

The Indonesian flight crashed into the Java Sea. The flight recorders were recovered. If any other relevant wreckage has been recovered, I have not heard about it.
