2020 Democratic presidential frontrunner and former Vice President Joe Biden said Monday he is open to selecting a Republican running mate to join him on the ticket if nominated this summer.
Our 21-year-old son said the other night, I wonder if Joe Biden would consider choosing a Republican as a running mate, one woman asked Biden during a New Hampshire town hall.
The answer is I would, but I cant think of one now, Biden responded. You know theres some really decent Republicans that are out there still, but heres the problem right now theyve got to step up.
It was a smart line from Biden, allowing the former vice president to appear bipartisan on par with his brand as the deceptively moderate voice in an extremist primary while refraining from commitment.
Despite Mondays comments, Biden is all but certain to choose a Democrat to join him on the ticket. No major party presidential nominee in modern American history has chosen a member of the opposing party for the vice-presidential slot. The closest a candidate ever came was former Republican Arizona Senator John McCain putting independent Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman who caucused with the Democrats on the partys ticket in 2008 before opting for Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
Regardless, Republican VP began trending almost immediately after Biden made the news. Some on Twitter were quick to write Bidens comments off as politically savvy rather than literally highlighting a flagrant double-standard held against Trump, whose every word is taken for its precise worth.
The degree to which this web site takes everything Biden says literally, as opposed to politically, is odd.
He's not going to choose a Republican VP. He thinks it's good politics to signal that he'll work with Republicans if they'll meet him halfway. He's probably right.

With just a month to go until the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses slated to be held on Feb. 3, Biden remains the clear frontrunner in national polls but has dropped to third in the Hawkeye state according to Real Clear Politics latest aggregate of polls. The Real Clear aggregate also puts Biden in third in New Hampshire, the first primary to follow Iowa. Biden still leads comfortably however in Nevada and South Carolina.
As long as she’s 12 or under.
I hope the Republican won’t have young children in the family.
Don’t forget his Daddy was a postal carrier :-)
Don’t forget his Daddy was a postal carrier :-)
Or Lisa Murkowski?
A nut case ^2
When you stand zero chance of winning anything, you can run with ANYONE!
That would be too hilarious to watch.
Then the genius McSlime did what he thought would cinch the loss. He picked a conservative Christian. He just knew for sure that would repulse the voter base. Sara was his pick for a pig date. LOL. He was a close second to Slimeden as far as the sleaze factor.
But hey, we just expected too much from Prince Rhesus, monkey is as monkey does. The RNC needs a divorce from the DNC. Two socialist parties are two too many!
Its a lie from Biden.
Obama did something similar during his first primary. He said Reagan did some very good things, while he actually loathed Reagan and despised all that Reagan did.
This is done to keep the republican base at ease. Nothing more. Setting the tone to keep the base sleeping.
He’s lying.
..then they could run under the name of the “Uni-Party”....
He’s got quite the list from which to choose.....
Romney
Kasich
Flake
Murkowski
Schwartzenegger (sp?)
Collins
Ryan
Sasse
....and for the outsider, Georgie Boy Conway!
Joe Biden’s also open to little boys diddling him between campaign speeches.
I think he would consider anybody at room temperature that could fog a mirror...
Kasich LOLOLOLOL
Its Kasich folks
And you know this how?
I can’t even imagine who..Romney, Mrs McCain.....
Joe Biden is a liar.
