Strange; unless it is an exclusive community, why are the taxes so high? Our school taxes are about 1/3 of our total property taxes here in NJ; are you in NY?

I think towns see them as a way to keep the stability of older people in the area with low offsetting costs; is the $10,000 low for the area (compared to single-family homes, for example)?

It's fairly exclusive and well-heeled. Many people here have a place in Florida so it's sort of empty this time of year. Clubhouse has weight room, a billiards room, swimming pool, a full library, etc.

I live in Fairfield country CT so it's right up there with Westchester so far as taxes go.

The home I moved out of cost me $14,000/yr in taxes so believe it or not, I'm saving about $375/mo in taxes by moving here!
