McCain used his background as an ex-POW to become chair of the committee reviewing substantiated claims that the missing and many POWs were left behind. Sydney Schanberg, author of The Killing Fields, wrote a book on his lies, deceit and backstabbing of their families. He turned into a really no-good individual.
Those were his first open public acts of villainy and he was just getting warmed up.
