I think the democrat long-term goal here is to destroy the impeachment process altogether. If they can de-legitimize impeachment, then their future president (think emperor) will be unstoppable when breaking the law.
Pretty soon the Dumocrats will be down to single digit percentage of voters. If they ever manage to win the presidency it would need the biggest voter fraud in history. We could mount a bigger series of impeachables

next time the repubs get the house , they should send up a law that any party that falsely accuses a president in this way with articles of impeachment will forfeit their parties participation in the next presidential election.

The house hasn’t sent over the articles of impeachment yet, and I doubt they will. They simply wanted big headlines that scream Trump impeached! That’s it as far as I can tell.
