The dems want witnesses because they can stretch it out endlessly. When Trump's Lawyers or McConnell want to call a witness, like Biden, the dems will fight them relentlessly, refusing to appear, blocking, appealing, maybe even going to jail in defiance. What you get is a quick prosecution where the dems make their case repeatedly on TV, then a stuttering, stalling, dragged out, disjointed defense lasting forever.
Let the DOJ investigate Biden, or the Senate can investigate after acquittal.
