It worked for a while, but the problem with identity politics is that in the end there are only two slots on a national ticket. They won in 2008 and 2012 with token black on top and token white guy Catholic as the VP; there is no way for them to accommodate/fit on the ticket all of the “preferred victims” they’ve designated anymore.
