Are you saying ‘poison violence’ is an insane concept when the real problem is ‘people who poison others’?
I agree with her that we need to understand the genesis of the violence, but doing that will require throwing political correctness totally out the window and going wherever the facts lead - something that no federally funded university is going to do.
Teenage pregnancy, substance abuse, single parent households, pop-culture, increasing secularism, politicians using race as a wedge issue, gang culture and the entertainment industry glorifying it, bad schools and ineffective teachers, etc. There are likely multiple factors, but when I've had this discussion with many liberals, their answer is often to blame 'poverty'. Poverty is a chicken or egg factor, and determining which is most contributory will again require following the facts wherever they lead.
To do this right, it would require a non-academic coalition of private bipartisan participants that includes a wide array of professional expertise.
