The California winemakers who hosted a dinner at a “wine cave” for Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg are defending the fundraising event.
Buttigieg’s political rivals used the recent fundraiser to criticize the South Bend, Indiana, mayor for soliciting campaign contributions from wealthy donors at Thursday’s Democratic presidential debate.
Craig and Kathryn Hall, who own the Hall Rutherford winery in Napa Valley, said Friday that they took issue with how their wine cave has been portrayed in the media.
“It seems someone’s intentionally trying to create a different image than the reality. And that’s unfortunate,” Craig Hall said.
A dispute over big-dollar donors and fundraising between Buttigieg and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren erupted on the presidential debate stage Thursday.
Warren described a lavish Buttigieg fundraiser featuring $900 bottles of wine and crystal chandeliers, saying that, unlike the South Bend mayor, “I do not sell access to my time.”
“Billionaires in wine caves should not pick the next president of the United States,” she charged.

There are absurd things said sometimes, in campaigns and these debates. This series of exchanges about the wine cave fundraiser, and fundraising from wealthy donors in general, is right up there among the dumbest things these Democrats could talk about.
In Democrat circles, billionaire bats are a natural hazard in wine caves. Candidates enter at your own risk.Fortunately, multi millionaire Indian guide Senator Warren is available to negotiate the labyrinth for them and keep them safe from these predators looking to rub wings with their moonbat progressive Democrat political class cousins.
At 900 a bottle, that was not a tough call to make.

The press for some reason is try to take Buttiegigieigeg out of the race. This “wine cave” business was stupid. Buttiegigereige actually had a great response to it...he said he was a literally the only one on the stage who was not a billionaire or a millionaire. THAT should have been the headline. But they want him out of the way. During the debate he was getting a lot of support from the audience.
Petty & they all sound like they are jealous no one had a wine cave fundraiser for them.
Let’s face it.....no matter what party you belong to you’re going to accept money from the rich & the not rich. You need the bucks. These two chicks are the modern day whiny & screechy teacher from yesteryear.
The winner of that spat between Warren and Buttigieg was Amy Klobuchar.
His city has a 25%+ poverty rate, one of the highest violent crime rates in the country for a town it’s size and an unemployment rate of 6.8% compared to it’s sister city (Mishawaka) with an unemployment rate of 3.6%. The city has lost 25% of it’s population high of 1968 and that with several annexations over the years.
The “mans” a disaster.
