McConnell: Holding Articles Of Impeachment Gives Pelosi No Leverage

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) says Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) strategy of holding articles of impeachment in the House rather than sending them to the upper chamber won’t put any pressure on him to agree to a rules package for the Senate trial.

“It’s beyond me how the Speaker and Democratic leader in the Senate think withholding the articles of impeachment and not sending them over gives them leverage,” McConnell told reporters after criticizing the House impeachment effort in a lengthy floor speech.

“Frankly, I’m not anxious to have the trial. If she thinks her case is so weak she doesn’t want to send it over, throw me into that briar patch,” McConnell added.

He also mocked House Democrats as being afraid to submit their two articles of impeachment to the Senate.

“The prosecutors are getting cold feet in front of the entire country and second-guessing whether they even want to go to trial,” he said. “They said impeachment was so urgent that it could not even wait for due process but now they’re content to sit on their hands. It is comical.”

You’re not alone. Little Linda Grahamnesty has talked a big game for a very long time but, has actually done absolutely NOTHING.
In fact, there is more and more talk that he and McCain were also beneficiaries of Ukrainian Corruption. There is growing speculation it is for this reason he has taken no action whatsoever.
The growing consensus is he is attempting to cover that fact with red meat bluster for the republican base hoping to obscure his and McCain’s Ukraine corruption with his blustery proclamations on Fox News.

Otherwise Pelosi is holding impeachment over Trump like some Sword of Damocles.

Read the Constitution. The SCOTUS has no jurisdiction. The Senate owns it now.

Jim Sensennbrenner who has done 4 impeachments says for the House to tell the Senate what to do is a very bad idea.

You’d rely on Bloomberg news? If (key word) they release the articles then The senate responds. Until they do it doesn’t mean feces. In the meantime (another key point) Trump judges still hit the courts as long as him and the turtle keep going. Including if Ruth Buzzie tips over. They can’t convict and they can’t say he’s really been impeached. They (they being the Dems are FU). Checkmate.

For all those, including Democrat members of Congress that do not know the United States Constitution:
Article 1. Section 2:

The House of Representatives shall choose their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.

(this dose not describe what elected officials by title)

Article 1. Section 3:

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

There is no discussion or allowance for members of congress to be present or have managers present to present the case. It is not spelled out. That is just how the first impeachments were conducted by the rules of the bodies of the Congress and Senate. Each body sets up their own rules, but those rules are subservient to the rule of law in the constitution. Thus the Senate can conduct the trial when ever they want and without members of congress even present. The vote by congress to impeach has been completed and must now be acted on.

True. I never thought you would. The longer Pelosi drags this out the more judges are confirmed. No one should doubt this wouldn’t slow Trump down from naming RBG’s replacement. When she goes, that’s when the show begins. I think that’s what this is all about.
