No. Just THAT look in her eyes that stopped me cold!
My mother did use a wooden spoon but when I was 16. My sister and I were helping with the supper dishes and she just happened to have it in her hand when I made a remark that made her unhappy. I think it was spontaneous and she didn’t even think of what she was doing as we hadn’t been disciplined by spankings in years - which was the usual discipline.
She wouldn’t give me permission to go to a basketball game at school but my sister was being allowed to go so I said something about “your favorite”....Must have hit a chord. I was the baby of the family but always thought my older sister was her favorite of we four offspring! I apparently had broken a rule but I don’t remember what is was (like so much mud)....HA!
