Are they still the Boy Scouts? Thought they re-branded as Scouts BSA with females, gays and transgenders.
I was in the BSA back in the mid 60’s in a troop in Thailand run by a group of US Army NCO’s, I still think about those awesome camping excursions with our military surplus gear and the guiding principles that those sergeants impressed upon their charges.
Sadly when my family moved back to the states and the BSA troops I sought out were disorganized and the scouts were more interested in sneaking smokes and beer out back of the church fellowship centers. Camping trips were non existant but for once yearly.
I quit after a few meetings. Pops asked me why and I told him. I took up fishing with my hard scrabble farmer uncle instead (who was a former WWII army sergeant). He taught me a lot.
