Michigan Democrat hears protests, cheers at town hall over impeachment support

Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) heard pushback from some voters but loud applause from others at a Monday town hall after the centrist congresswoman announced her support for the articles of impeachment against President Trump.

Some cheered for Slotkin as she took the stage at a town hall in Rochester, Mich., but others booed and interrupted the Democrat during her speech further detailing why she is supporting Trump’s impeachment.

Slotkin attempted to distance herself from her more left-leaning colleagues, pointing out that some of them came out in support of impeachment as soon as they were sworn in. She noted that she did not back an impeachment inquiry into Trump after former special counsel Robert Mueller testified on Russia's 2016 election interference, but said the Ukraine controversy is a different matter.

“I did not think the events of that, or the actions of that time, were worthy of an impeachment inquiry,” she said at the town hall, adding that at first she thought voters should decide Trump's fate at the ballot box next year.

“That changed for me on the very basic facts that the president of the United States came out, and his lawyer came out, and said very specifically that they had reached out to a foreign power and asked him for information on political rival,” Slotkin said.

“That’s a lie,” someone in the crowd yelled out.

Protesters were scattered in the audience, with some holding up Trump 2020 signs and posters calling to “Impeach Slotkin,” according to a livestream of the event and some clips shared by local reporters.

So someone got to her behind the scenes, to get her on board with impeachment. I expect the same will happen with the other fence sitting Democrats.

Are you new? There are no fence sitters. Everyone has known how they were going to vote the days this started.

Another one who mistakenly believes that voting for the impeachment of President Trump would be personally empowering. Too much “Girl Power”.

indeed. because when Nancy says she’s not holding a gun to anyone’s head, that means she’s holding a gun to their heads ...

Democrats will be stacking the audiences with strong impeachment supporters to deflect the real feeling in their districts. good luck with that.

Well Nanzi is holding a PAC of money over their heads. So that is the carrot and you know they are pretty rough if you say “no.”

This thing is set and will be played out leading to November.

Last week, after she was interviewed on FOX, I said that she would vote the way Nancy wanted her to. I wasn’t wrong. She had nothing to lose, since, she was going to be voted out in 2020 anyway. So, she turned her back on her principles (as if she had any) and decided to do as Nancy wished.

Slutkin's a one trick pony, especially for that area. Rochester, Michigan is a very, very, conservative town as are the surrounding areas.

I'm unsure how she won anyway, maybe riding the coattails of the 2018 doper vote.

Am LMAO at these Democrats. They have no idea what is coming down the road at them. I was one, of many conservatives, back in 2016 that said and predicted that Donald J. Trump would easily defeat Democrat, Hillary Clinton....which POTUS, Trump easily did...although all the polls, pundits, politicians, media, predicted otherwise, declaring that Hillary Clinton would beat Trump with a landslide victory.

Much is yet to come in the year of 2020 and most of the much does not favor the Democrat Party at all. There will be great economic news, there will be major indictments of many Democrats and, Ex-POTUS, Barack Hussein Obama will be revealed as the number one criminal culprit in the land. The entire current list of Democrat Party 2020 POTUS candidates will fail to go anywhere near the POTUS...period.

I have to laugh because so many Democrats are following the same path as young “Flounder” did in the great movie “Animal House”.....they are trusting Pelosi, Schiff, Nalder, Schumer, etc. to lead the way....which they won’t and can’t...thereby screwing hordes of Democrat candidates who will be political slaughtered at the polls, come November 3, 2020!!! These Democrat fool folks are really not too bright. Trusting losers like Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler & Schumer, etc. is the last thing in this God’s world anyone, Democrat or otherwise should ever do.

I'm unsure how she won anyway,

Republican voters stayed home. Her opponent, Bishop, got approx. 46,000 less votes in 2018 than he did in 2016........

That's why our senator Debbie Stabenow won too. Her vote total against GOP candidate John James was about the same as Hillary got in 2016 when Trump won the state.

With that being said, a close friend who lives in northern Michigan said the only campaign yard signs he saw were for the Democrats. James totally ignored northern Michigan and the upper peninsula, instead focusing on lower Michigan.

As of right now, only the democrat incumbent, Gary Peters has been running TV ads........

If he can get the money from the RNC to help his campaign, I think he stands a good chance of defeating Peters if all the 2016 Trump voters go to the polls..........
