Hate is not a crime but assault is. hate crime legislation is just another way to get criminals off.

I detest the idea of hate crime laws for two reasons: They are not enforced uniformly (mostly in prosecuting white-on-black crime, when the vast majority of crime when race is a factor is black-on-white which is rarely even considered) but most of all, hate crime laws require the prosecutors to assume a mind-set of the aggressor.
Thank goodness school buses have on-board cameras now, making
prosecution much easier. And failure to protect a “student victim” in future makes the school system culpable. Ca-ching!
