It should be thrown out...by the Senate. Actually, it should have never even been started.

But there are mixed signals about what Trump wants. Reportedly, behind the scenes, he wants a full trial. On the other hand, he has said in public he can go either way, short or long, whatever “they” (I presume he means the Senate) want.

McConnell says he and the Trump team will be in full agreement as to how to proceed.

It’s a little hard to figure out what the plan is, but I think it will be to let the House present its case, after which the Senate will decide whether or not to proceed, or just vote to acquit.

I’m just scratching my head here, not knowing what to expect...

Trump wins either way.
One way, the case falls apart by the House vote. SCOTUS taking Trump’s case destroys the “obstruction” charge. The other charge complains about business as usual. Democrats would be wise to drop the case right now; they do have a strong sense of self preservation.
Other way, Trump gets a no holds barred forum where he can totally unload everything on Hillary, Obama, FBI, and everyone else. Left doesn’t want him in that ring.
Left needs an exit strategy right now.
