As I mentioned last week, the local Houston area elections would paint a picture.
Well not really - total votes cast 200,000 - a small turnout.
The sitting Mayor Sylvester Turner managed to get the Black vote to show up Saturday and will be Houston's mayor for another Four years
There was some positive news as well, City Council added one more conservative to their ranks.
Now the City Council is very close to having enough votes to Counter Mr. Turner's initiatives.
Houston area will remain Republican through the 2020 election cycle.

So I tell the story of my father-in-law who groped me after driving me home late at night as a favor.
I once really liked the guy. Eventually my husband left me, my fault....something you hear very few women admit.
A few short months ago I come across an essay written by my mother-in-law.....I am not making this up.
It told about my father-in-law’s death, how much she loved him, their good marriage, how much he loved to make love to her.
I couldn’t believe it.
More than unbelievable, she tells this story of some friend of she and her husband. She describes how they sat and talked and what a pleasant afternoon they had.
But at some point this fellow grabbed her and planted a big wet kiss on her and groped her endlessly.
Again, I am not making this up.
And I recall that loving husband of hers and how he groped me. Even further, my maid of honor told me she was very uncomfortable around him, she felt he was watching her with a dark intent.
So it wasn’t just me.
Know that I will never tell her....not that I’ll ever see her again....about her husband and his roaming hands.
You can’t make it up.

I do not know what this bit is about having someone arrested.
But having my butt pinched by a stranger is not pleasurable to me but you are evidently a better woman than me.
And yes I’ve had my butt pinched, plenty of times. Never enjoyed it but then I am a bad person.
I’m not sure about arresting.
For lo many years few, if any, men were arresting for pinching a strange woman’s butt. One could hope that the ignoring the behavior, even a few brave women very bad like me might give a yelp....one might hope that having social disdain heaped upon would eventually stop the behavior.
Evidently that didn’t work.
Maybe a few very public arrests would let those who don’t think a butt is a private part that don’t matter what he think....pinching a stranger’s butt is against the law.
But again you are a better person than me.

If someone touched my wife’s butt, I’d track them down...that’s all I’ll say on that.
If I wasn’t there to track them down, she’d have the right to press charges. That woman is someone’s daughter and may be someone’s wife. See how that works? (Fish, I’m speaking to the readers, not you). It’s her butt, not his object to put his hand on as he wishes for his pleasure.
I’d be fine if someone kicked his butt and charges weren’t pressed...works either way, but he’s gotta pay.

You have to know that I wrote back with several points, starting with,”You must believe your constituents are all thoroughly ignorant of the issue” and on and on. I implored him to curse the president and pretend to pray like Pelosi if he must, but to do the right thing in the end because he and I both know what the right thing is.
I’ve been doing this thread for 21 years. We rarely do so on the Sunday thread because it is pretty fast moving.
I didn’t quote because I was paraphrasing. When I directly quote, I always use italics, unlike many others. However, when I misquote them, I always say sorry about that and move on...
I wondered about that as well and the only thing possible is those senators who are compromised or John Roberts who is also compromised.Other than that I don’t know what they could do.

Matthews got away with fast talking ten years ago. Today not so much. I don’t think his brain can keep up with his mouth.
