It's because of the damned Muslims; both the UK and France used to have somewhat larger Jewish populations. The Muslims especially go after the Hasidim ( they're easy to spot ) and the Orthodox Jews ( not as easy to spot ) in both nations.
England and Europe have had anti-Semitic groups, though, for millennia; the strength of which comes and goes through different eras.
