I was racing through bakery department of my local Kroger when I almost ran into two adorable little twin girls and their dad who was approaching them from the bakery counter with a huge cake. I said to the girls, “whose birthday?” Dad said, “Both of them” and gave me a big smile...he clearly loved those girls to pieces.
They he turned around with a frown on his face to a sad-looking woman in a burka, and told her which loaf of bread to buy. His wife — waiting for directions like some kind of servant.
I realized that the minute those adorable girls were old enough, he’s slam them into burqas too and treat them with the same disdain.
AND, also I was wearing a hoodie so he couldn’t see my hair....had my tresses been flowing, I’ll bet he’d have frowned and pulled his daughters away.
